190 steering

the steering is kinda jerky. Just wondering what it could be. There arent any leaks in the system. There is a canister that runs next to the frame rail that feeds the pump.was thinking it was a cooler but it has no water lines. The system almost seems like it is getting air in it.

Is it jerky at operating speed or only at low speed?
The description sounds strange. Th canister seems out of place. There shouls be a tube going from the pump to the reservoir in front of the transmission.
You did not mention which pump it has, a 2 section or a 3 section.
The cooler is in front of the radiator.
It sounds like a lack of fluid, Bad pump or a sticking priority flow control(if a 2 section pump)
