190 XT Diesel

Looking at a 190XT D and they tell me the PTO quit working. What could cause this and what would it take to fix and costs? Just looking for Ideas and suggestions. I know not exact with a little trouble shooting just trying to decide if worth it or not.
Thanks inadvance Matt.

With out pulling out the manual I do not remember for sure but if memory serves right that uses a hyd clutch set up which can get into $$ fast. I know in my area one that DOES NOT jump out of gear which is common one them is only worth around $2500 and that is with good tires and every thing working as it should be. I had one a number of years ago and it was a power house and used very little fuel for its size. As a matter of fact I think I put like 20gal of fuel in it and never added more to it and sold it with out adding more and baled all my hay with it that summer. Ya only 40 or so big rounds but still not bad for all that and the other tings I did with it

It maybe the coupler just came undone or the shaft broke, or if its hydraulic the clutches could be bad; but I doubt its hyd. , most came out on 200,s ;does it have the pto engaugement to the left of the seat? If any of these it wouldnt be too expensive, can you turn the pto on back of the tractor by hand ??

Old is partly right, depends on what series it is The first two series had a mech.engagment and Series 3 had a Hyd.clutch on the PTO.If it is Hyd.anything could be wrong,(snapped shaft, bad clutch) if mech.,then something could be unhooked or broke inside(Doubt it).The Hyd.ones were nicer, but the manual ones were more trouble free. Hope this helps a little.
