190 XT final drives

Is the fluid in the final drives on a 190 XT part of a common reservoir with the transmission? The manual is kind of vague, but it looks like they basically share the same fluid since there doesn"t seem to be a separate place to fill the final drives.

Basically, I need to know if I should drain both final drives along with the trans fluid to make sure I get a completely fresh change.

the final drives (axles, bull gear and bull pinion shaft) are separate from the trans and differential. there is a plug at the bottom of the trans on the left side of the tractor, and a plug at the back of the tractor to the left side of the PTO. Both of those plugs drain the trans and rear. The final drives/bull gear, axles have a drain plug on both the right and left sides of the tractor on the bull gear housing.

Thanks, Hunter. I'm still a little confused.

There is a plug at the front where the shaft for the brakes is, one on the sump at the bottom, and one just below the PTO engagement lever. Those take care of the hydraulics and power director, right?

After that, I only see one big plug on the left side, just above and ahead of the front of the drawbar.

Another dumb question - where do you refill the final drives?

each compartment has a breather plug located on the top cover plate. not sure if they can be accessed easily without removing platform. the fill plugs are located directly behind each axle mount flange and the center section plug is to the left of the rear pto shaft. each area is separated by plugs and lip seals so they all must be filled one ata time. the trans is its own compartment also. it is not to be mistaken for the power director/hydraulic sump. Im in the middle of a rebuild due to lipseal and bearing failure so i am making certain all is correctly repaired. and maintained.
