1927 JD unstyled D

I have a "D" with a serial number between 43410 and 54553. According to a book I have it says those numbers are made in 1927. But the book also says at that time (1927) the "D" was redesigned to use a splinged flywheel and crankshaft, compared to the keyed shaft formerly used. According to my serial number I have a 1927 but I have a keyed shaft and flywheel. When did JD actually change to a splinged shaft?

According to ONE reference, the splined crankshaft first appeared on # 53,338.

I'm curious... why are you so vague about the serial number of your's???

If you have the keyed crank, narrow fenders, 12" wide instead of 15 1/2" and, the short air stack, it should be the early 1927.I know that the early 27 had 12 spoke rear wheels but, I don't remember if the late 27 was the same or not. I'm thinking that the late ones had more spokes.
