I want to offer the owner of this GP a fair price. Engine is stuck. It ran about 10 years ago, was turned over every year till last year. There is some weld on the carb, weld on the steering housing just down from the steering wheel. Couldnt find any more weld anywhere. It doesnt have anything robbed from it since it was last run. It still has the serial tag. Not sure about the wheels and exhaust, and any other parts on this that may not be original. Couldnt see any cracks or anything like that around the block.

Any of the GP fans out there who have owned, worked on, or restored a GP......... I'd like to have a ballpark figure on a fair price range to offer him. Maybe just high/low price would be fine. I did search around for prices, but couldnt find much for these tractors. If there is anything else to watch out for, lemme know. Both the owner and myself really dont know where to start. He would like to make some money, and I'd like to get a good deal.

Not sure about price but when comparing that GP to my F-I-L's 1930 GP I can tell you a bit of what might be right and wrong. The outside rear steel wheels are the exact ones on my F-I-L's GP. The inner steel look to be from something else, more like Farmall steel wheels to me. My F-I-L's have spoke wheels on the front. Exhaust, as it seems you knew, is not correct. My father in law has two GP's, a 30 and a 34. The 34 was about in the same shape as this and he paid $500 for it about 10 years ago. He bought it out of a field from someone who knew little about what it was. He paid $1,800 for his 30 GP which ran and was complete and he believes was correct at the time of purchase. It was not restored but in it's "work clothes" and has stayed that way as you can still see the JD screen print and many of the other markings around the tractor.

Price would depend on 2 things; ambition and depth of wallet. Old joke told to cuties in bar- " I'm not really this tall, I'm sitting on my wallet"

The outer rear wheels are the ones that should be on the tractor. The fronts are the original style except that they are now cut-offs. The muffler is correct since it was optional for the early GP's. It is a spark arrestor/silencer. As far as the rest of the tractor, it has been updated with an oil filter, and it has the "outside-the-hood" replacement air cleaner. If the motor isn't stuck, you're way ahead of the game since GP's tend to get pricey in a hurry when it comes to rebuilding the engine. If you can get it for somewhere between $600-$800 I'd grab it.
