Is there a heat date embossed on an A4R rear axle housing somewhere? You would think that a casting that big would have one, I can't find one. It would have to be differant than the main case heat date more than likly.

Only one I know of is on the main case below the clutch-belt pulley. There was a change made to the rear axle outer grease seal at 411 592, but no change made to the housing proper, only the seal & tin retainer appear different. At 460 000 12 spline axles were adopted and the John Deere lettering on the housing was reduced in size. At 424 025 {1936 model year} the main case was changed & had a new part no. This main case would not interchange with the '34 & '35 cases. I am by no means an expert. I have '35 & "36 As. There are folks out there that know them better than I do.

i've had more than a dozen 34 a's and at least that many 35's. there is no date code on the a 4 r rear axle housing.
