I have downloaded owners and parts manual from the jd website. Do the old parts manuals not have diagrams like the more modern ones? I have some components im not sure how to properly install. I was a kid when dad tore the tractor down. That was 40 years ago. He doesn't recall a lot of things. Is their a source for pictures? Anyone have one of these tractors? Main questions right now are the clutch fork spring, hand controls, and brake pedal springs.

Is A 1657 R clutch fork spring in the parts picture installed correctly on the tractor? In my mind its the only place it can serve a purpose. Installed at the top its over compressed and coils touch. In the center it wouldnt do anything. Bottom coils are evenly spaced and it supports the clutch fork.

That's the only place I have seen them, but have not worked on an AOS. Only logical place, you are good to go.
