1937 Case C color

Hi, I am restoring a Case model C for a customer. It is either a 1936 or 37. The question we have is this tractor supposed to be Gray in color or Case red (orange)? All the pics I see of them are of gray with red wheels. The one the customer brought us is painted Orange. Thanks for your time.

I did my RC back in the early 70's and did mine in a Fergenson gray with black lettering and did wheels in orange but latter on found out they should have been red. Back when I did mine we had no Case dealers in area and could not find decals for it but today you can find most every thing you need.

An R series before they were styled in 39 should be a very light gray, almost white. Ford NAA gray is close. A model C or L tractor is a darker gray. The easiest thing is to buy L/C gray from a Case dealer. The wheels are red and the raised letters on the hood and radiator are silver. Early hoods without raised letters use a decal. The "keep cover tight" decal goes on the valve cover and not on the radiator. Some mix 3 qts. Ford truck gray (not white)to 1qt. black for the dark gray. Personally I think it is a bunch of screwing around for nothing when the right paint is available.

Should be LC grey with dark red wheels. Not uncommon to see a c series painted orange. That is not correct color for c series.

This is one I did for a friend about 3 years ago. It is LC gray and the wheels are farmall red.

Like I said back when I did that no dealers in area ( very very few Case tractors in this area) and auto parts had no paint formula to mix paint. I had to go by what I could find from a few old timers that had Case.
