1938 B gear box

I bought A 1938 B today On the left side of the trans there is a box with a handle I thought it was a 3 speed box but it seems to just shift in and out then the crank case cover does not have a filter it just has a pipe and its on the right side of the cover not on the left like my 37 and 39 does I will try to get pic tomorrow

Sounds like a overdrive box.

that's what i thought when i move it to the right it disengages the trans i will do a little more investigating

I found one on ebay its a BEHLEN OVERDRIVE KIT 6692

Hi Patrickmull, Good find. I bought a 38 A parts tractor a few years ago and when I hauled it home I found it had a strange box on the flywheel side. It turned out to be a shop made overdrive. To engage it there is a slot opposite 2nd gear. It appears to have worked. The whole hulk is still sitting in my pile of stuff. Good luck with your new project. VH
