1938 cat 10 -- Barn find

Was at the neighbors today. Showed me this cat 10 that has been covered and sitting for 30years. When he parked it, it was in good running order. Thing is it looks as good as new. Everything on it is original and tins are perfect. Has all original oil cans and grease implements from dealer. Belt drive pulley to attach to pto on rear. Iam a Farmall guy and know nothing about cats. Qestion is what is it worth as it sits and how many problems to get her going after the amount of time sitting. Tried the hand crank on engine. Probably stuck.

What you describe is a nice find, and a TEN, is very collectible, being a small tractor etc. Even if it is stuck, and assuming the undercarriage is in good shape; pins bushings, pads, sprockets, rollers etc. It is well worth taking the engine apart and resolving what is seized. Does it have the side tins, louvered panels that are removable ?

If the motor is stuck, I know you can try penetrants and the like but you should consider doing it right because of what it is, that tractor could fetch a decent price to a collector if running.

I would offer him $500.00 where is as is, take it home and pull the head and oil pan. Billy is right it could be a valuable find if you get it running. You can always get you money out of it.Do you have a picture?

the pickers wouldnt even insult the guy like that. should be worth at least 2k. if its what you say it is.

I gave $750.00 for this 1951 D4, it was running, 50% undercarriage( Had Pins and bushing turned it was also direct electric start, factory hyds.

The tractor has all the side curtains and tin is in perfect condition. The family that had it never used it but hooked up to a thrasher. All metal is as straight as the day it was made including the grill.

Nice unrestored original, good condition, + the other original items you mentioned, sounds like the undercarriage may not have lots of wear being used stationary, all around nice find, be nice to find out about the motor, stuck pistons, hard to figure why if it was under a roof, condensation maybe ? Thing I hate about a stuck motor is if you get it to free up using solvent or penetrating oil or some other method, what if any abrasive action could be going on in the cylinder, rust particles, or what have you scoring the cylinder walls, I can't recall if a TEN has sleeves, or straight up block, in neither cases I would not want to take a chance and score the cylinder or liner, bite the bullet and take er apart, clean, hone, reassemble and know it's good to go, always seems like a gamble with stuck rings, pistons etc.
