i just got a 1938 ac speed maintainer , it is in pretty good shape and runs excellent , what is the value of this machine in good shape.acording to tractor data.com there were only 411 of them built

Do you mean the W Speed Patrol?? If so they sell from what I understand from $1000 or so in poor shape up to around $10,000 in real good shape. That one would be an unstyled one. I have a 1947 W Speed Patrol that I use all the time

Is it like this one??? It is an early model Speed Patrol same as far as I have been told as the maintainer. That one sold a couple years ago for $1500 and I told the guy that I wished he would have let me buy it I would have given him more

mine looks just like that it has a badge on the front that says 1e38. i paid 200.00 for it , i cleaned the carb and mag ,fired rite up .

i believe there was a simlar WC based grader that did not have the exteneded nose on the front, just a balde and lift mechanism under the belly...?

A Maintainer has a single front wheel and a Speed Patrol has a frame extension like the one in the picture and a wide front end.

dont know if this is right or not, but found on "Phils" serial number page ?????

Simple one word patrol or maintainer same difference just a different word used to say the same thing. The early ones where based on the un-styled WC and the later ones based on the styled WC but pretty much the same machines

Most if not all of them where based on the WC tractor just some where the un-styled and some the styled. There was also one based on the B or C but they where to small to do much so they did not last long from what I understand

Arman makes some good models... see the patrol with the exteneded front end, and the maintainer with single wheel on a standard WC.
