When this fall was ending the b wouldn't start so we tried to bump start it. I had it in low ratio in 1st gear it made a grinding sound and the tractor Kept rolling but the flywheel stopped spinning any idea what happend. we Used a Allis-Chalmers D17.

Cylinder may of been full of gas and could not compress. Now something is busted from a connecting to gear teeth ? Seen it before.

Did you try to turn the engine over at least 2 complete revolutions before you tried to start it to make sure nothing like a cylinder full of fuel was holding it back? When you say bump start, do you mean by hooking the A-C to the B with a log chain? You will have better results too if you use a higher gear.
