1940 B PTO Removal

I have a 1940 B that I am restoring. I have removed the upper housing (belt pulley) and have the PTO housing itself loose but it will not come off. Any help is appreciated! This thing sat outside with the front half removed for 30+ years. The trans had water in it, but seems to be ok (gears look good, still turn....). I plan on tearing it down as far as I can before going it other way. I am working on the torque tube a;so....I have the clutch/throwout bearing removed, and hope to get it ready to pull today.

Well your not getting any answers so I'll try. It's been a while since I had one apart but I don't remember any issues. Maybe the on / off lever is bolding you up or maybe it's just stuck on there. Gentle tapping with a wood or rubber mallet will knock it loose. Are you sure you have all the bolts out? Look again. The whole casting comes off. You can't just pull the shaft out.

Not sure if it will be of any help but I'm attaching the pages out of my manual on the PTO

What do you mean by "have it loose"? Normally, when somebody says "loose", I assume it is free to move around but won't come out. That seems unlikely, as when that housing is "loose", the next step is for it to fall off by itself.

If on the other hand, you mean all the bolts are out and it won't budge, which isn't very "loose", you have 2 possibilities. Either you don't have one of the bolts out, or it really is stuck.

If it is stuck, it is either because of a tight dowel pin (there are 2) or the gasket has stuck itself to both parts. Either way, some careful prying at the seam should get it loose.
