I have a 1947? 2n ford tractor with an industrial Ford motor. It has a side mount distributor/magneto Wico XV2065. Found nothing on the internet about this tractor. Does anyone have any information on this tractor and magneto. Thanks

Bri.......why does it surprize you that yer 2N tractor has an industrial replacement engine? Ford sold various versions of this engine for irrigation pumps, oilwell pumps, railroad reefers, Pullman car coolers, portable electric lite plants, haybailers, combiners, welders, WW2 Jeeps. Many had magnetos and handcrank starters so NO battery to worry about charging or going flat.

Even the first 1942 2N's had magnetos, and steel tires. Seems copper and lead and rubber were being used for military purposes. Then they realized that they needed tractors to grow food to feed the soldiers and sailors. And the war production control board authorized material for tractor production. Most steel wheeled 2N's had batterys, gennys, starters, ag-bar tires re-installed, but left the magneto inplace.

There are outfits that can repair magnetos. Search the internet. But as a general rule, magnetos are highly reliable .......Dell

Dell I finally found magneto parts a few weeks ago from Chicago. Parts stores, even Ford tractor dealers didn"t know anything about this motor and couldn"t find any ignition parts. I can"t find any information on the motor from any of the tractor clubs. It"s like this motor doesn"t exist. Where would you find parts for this motor? Bri P

It's basically the same motor as any N series with the exception of the Magneto. Just purchase parts for a side mount engine. (mid 50-52)
