1947 ford 8n

i am 15 bought my first tractor its a 1947 8n i have just cleaned the carb and got er running like a top i would like to know paint codes for this year and what would be a better place to start "main body" or "chassis" and i went and got some bondo and i got some 80 grit to prep surface and some 600 wet or dry is this a good grit to prep primer for stage 2 paint or should i go to a 1000 grit wet or dry i have restored a cub cadet 100 and i wasnt real sure on this am a becoming a tractor enthsiast juss wanted to take on deeper project besides juss getting running and sell
 
180 grit before applying epoxy primer on the sheet metal. Don't sand the epoxy. Put sandable surfacer over the epoxy, sand with 400, repeat until remaining depressions are filled and surface is smooth-usually 1-3 times. Topcoat after final sanding with 400. 600 can be too fine to get the topcoat to stick. 1000 and above is for color sanding followed by buffing the topcoat. The chassis, being cast does not sand well and is usually wire-wheeled. You can start where you want, I do the cast first, no rule about that.
