1948 C narrow front end

I am helping an older gentleman with his "C" and the other day the front axle sheared, and one wheel and hub fell off. Can anyone give me a source where I could find a new or used front axle for this tractor?

I've probably have that part but not sure if the cost of shipping would be high. I have 2 parts Cs there both 1946 I am in Missouri the lake of the Ozarks area

Post a classified here. They are easy to find and if all you need is the spindle and center shaft, wouldn't be horrible to ship. If you want to just swap front ends, they are too heavy for UPS to ship.

Thanks, I was out of town earlier this week and ordered one off ebay. I see wheel bearings for sale but not the bearing and seal for the vertical shaft. What type of seal is in there as the owner said it wouldn't hold the fluid in the housing...thanks for any information.

www.agcopartsbooks.com log in as a guest and search IB. The parts diagrams are in the same book as the IB. Corn head Grease may be the only thing that will stay in it. It's a very thin Grease.

Wow! that is awesome. i printed the schematic and part numbers. That is really helpful! thanks a lot. Am I able to order any of these parts if I can't find them through aftermarket?

If you take the AC bearing and seal numbers to a good bearing shop, they can cross them to usable numbers. If you have a local AGCO dealer, you could, but they would be pretty expensive I'd think. If you like the search, you can probably cross them yourself on a bearing company website and find them cheap on Ebay.

I removed the housing from the tractor and took the top gear off but it seems like the shaft doesn't want to come out. It rotates freely and there is plenty of grease. It looks like it should slide out on the schematic so I don't want to force it. Any ideas?

Nevermind....it just took a little more persuasion than I was willing to apply initially.

I am just wondering the best way to install the upper seal as the one that I am ordering from DJs only has the cork, not the retainer. I will have to be very careful to remove the original so that I can reuse the retainer. There also was a post to use a CR13568 seal for the upper. Has anyone done that? thanks for any help.
