1948 Cockshutt 30

Good day all....have a question for those familiar with the Cockshutt tractors. I am completely unfamiliar with them, but was recently offered a trade for a 1953 Farmall Super C w/fast hitch I have. The trade offer was for a nice looking and nice running Cockshutt 30 w/a wide front end and a 3 point hitch. (I have attached a pic of the 30 and the SC for fyi) I know it would be slightly bigger than the Super C and has the live pto which can be a nice option. Parts for the SC are easier to find I would think, but was curious to get any and all thoughts on the comparison of the two and if a straight across trade would be something to consider. Thanks a lot!

That's a real nice 30. I have two E3s that belonged to my father in law. One is a 1950 he bought new. At the time he was going to get an H but his good friend and neighbor who had a 48 E3 said get the COOP, once you try the live power you won't want anything else. He bought the neighbor's when he moved away. I've used an H and the only advantage it has over Cockshutt is the 5th gear.

like comparing a chev to a dodge. the ih is the chev and will out last the cockshutt. nothing spectacular about the cockshutt. side by side i would stick with the farmall.

Why does the other person want to do the trade? A straight across trade doesn't make sense to me being the farmall is down on power and features. Sure, parts availability may be a factor being that more were built, but I'm not quite getting the motivation for the other party.

Not discouraging the trade at all, but does that one have live power? I'm not seeing the big Oliver style PTO clutch housing that I thought they had.

For years I thought it would be neat to have a COOP or Cockshutt 30. They are rare where I live. I've been around super C tractors. I would trade without thinking about it!

What attachments would not work mon the 30? Except mounted corn picker. Yet never seen mounted picker on farmall c.

I was reading this older post and noticed this model 30 for sale in my area. Been for sale for a couple of months..... people here probably don't know anything about Cockshutt tractors.

Looks to be in decent shape, although I don't see any hydraulics and the front axle is different than the one pictured in the original post.
