I am a John Deere guy looking at buying a 1948 Cub. My Wife's Grandfather and Great Uncles all worked for Farmall/IH, most as tool and die makers or machinists. It is very likely based on her knowledge that her grandfather helped with some aspect of building a 1948 Cub During his first year at Farmall/IH. So this purchase is part for that reason and partly because we have a small field, .25 acre, our bigger equipment just doesn't fit well on and this tractor will work that piece. A friend is selling a 1948 cub, all new tires, engine gone through, quiet transmission and rear/final drives. Is there anything specific to look out for on these tractors? The current owner has receipts of all work done and the tractor is in overall nice shape. Also has plenty of implements that are part of the deal.
