I have two problems, high oil pressure, the needle is at the highest position.

Also, I get an overheat situation after running for about 20 minutes. I have followed the mix procedure, mix before pouring into the radiator. Can the cap have an affect on the heat? Can having too much fluid affect the ability to function correctly? Thanks in advance.

probably dont have a over heat problem, thats the way the m runs, shows hot but not boiling over with presure on the cap.

The wrong oil pressure gauge was installed on the tractor at some point in it's life. The gauge for an M is different than other JD's.I've had 2 M's with the same "high oil pressure" problem, I got a correct gauge and the problem was corrected on both tractors. As for the temp, they run hot, as long as it's not boiling over then run it. JimO

Yes too much fluid can be an issue. Buy the owners manual. Available from many sources, ebay, Davenport's, etc... You do not want to fill the radiator to the cap. There needs to be room in there for the system to work right. Remember, there is no water pump on these. It is based on the fact that the hot liquid will rise through the motor, out the top into the radiator, be cooled, and return through the bottom pipe. There needs to be room for the fluid to move, literally.
