I want to thank everyone who responded to my 1948 John Deere A rough running post. I took the info and investigated each item replacing parts, checking clearances, etc. I cranked the tractor and with a little adjustment it sounds and runs like a John Deere A. I know it has been quite a while, but thanks everyone!

Always good to hear a good report. Glad things worked out. Have a '50 JD A and it sure starts and runs good. I have to give credit to the previous owner as I have only had the tractor for 5-6 years and doesn't get used much.
