1949 8n frontmount distributor

My friend has a 49 8n with a front mount distributor who has a problem with a skipping in the motor under a pull. I have my ideas what it could be but I want some hardcore advise from the people who know. The skip was noticable before he replaced the wires, plugs, and even the carburator. He said that the skip got worse after he replaced all these things under a full load. Can you guys give me ideas where to start? Thank you

Many things could be going on.
#1 the distributor bushing maybe bad which will let the points open oddly and cause a miss in the engine.
#2 the valves may need to be adjusted
#3 a bad plug or weak spark
#4 does choking it hurt or help. If it helps lean set carb if hurts to rich
#5 when was the last time the air cleaner was serviced

Pull the distributor & check it out.

Advance weights & bushings.

Let us know if you need the bushing specs.

If that checks out, move on to the other possibilities.
