need to know if 1950 8n front mount distributer has or is supposed to have a clip under the rotor button, mine seems to fit loose

Yep, I have been here today, and answered another question that I think it does supposed to have one, and I thought that was his problem.

I really can't remember on a front mount (but that is all I really know), but for some reason that problem screams at me (seems I lost mine one time for a few minutes).

Does yours run without it?

I don't think they will run without it for some reason.

I don't drink to remember... LOL

My '47 2N don't have a clip under the rotor. Runs nearly as smooth as my '00 Intrepid engine(Wouldn't know it was running if you didn't see the white writing on the belt going around)...Did I mention that I am deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other one???

I tell ya, I am very inclined to go along with you guys on what I think.

But I do think I had a rotor for my front mount that had this little folded metal piece that fit in the flat on the shaft, and slid into the rotor.

And I lost it for a bit.

Had issues till I found it.

No doubt I may be off my rocker.

I did have that probelm with something, even if it weren't my tractor.

Well, I have one each front mt and side mt 1950 8Ns and the side has the clip, the front doesn't, but then that is just my samples.?

Gary, han't got me beat!!! (well yet)(I could be wrong)

If you are worried about the rotor being loose, put a little dab of silicone sealer inside, where the flat on the shaft seats.

When it hardens, it will hold the rotor snug, yet it will easily tear loose, if you need to remove the rotor at a later time.
