I have a B with the radiator shot and upper water pipe shot. I have the hood off and everything except the radiator. Does that all come off as one piece? Then can it be re cored? Also, how do you get the pipe out of the cast piece? Heat it? Thanks for any suggestions.

Probably would be easier to replace the cast piece and pipe with a good used one. Yes the radiator could be re-cored, by removing the bolts in the top and bottom tanks. Again, a good used replacement may be cheaper solution. I think I have both, but shipping would be expensive from Mississippi. Check local salvage yards.

Yes to heat.

Cores are expensive but available the last one I did with a good copper core was 1200

I’m sure there’s cheaper ones out there but that would give you a ballpark. By your name I’m wondering if you are from Iowa.

I haven’t been able to get ahold of the story city radiator guy in awhile but he would be my first option if you are around ames

Around Waterloo there’s a stoners a1 radiator downtown that does really good work on 2 cylinders and heavy construction stuff but your wallet will be significantly lighter. His uncle used to build 2 cylinder radiators for 25 cents a piece

Since 2021 I have had both my 60 and 70 radiators re-cored. The 60 cost a little over $500 and a few years later the same shop did the 70 and the bill was more than twice what the 60 had been. I blamed that on the shop having a change in workers (old guys retire), new guys new prices. Maybe not the case.

The prices (I’m assuming for copper but definitely for the cores) did jump around then quite dramatically.

The supplier probably had to restock and then adjust the price that happened quite often on everything.

The def in totes was one thing I specifically recall at that time if you went to the dealer who didn’t sell as much has the usual guy it was half price for about 10 minutes till he ran out and restocked then boom next month it jumped.

If you pay attention there are aluminum radiators painted copper as well that are cheaper. They work fine for most users and are cheaper.

When they used to work the stuffing out of them everyday the copper radiators had better heat transfer. There was an owner of a G brought in was very picky and wanted that.

I would do the same on my unstyled b if it becomes time as it likes to get warm on a warm day.

Late b might be big enough depends on how it was acting I have noticed the A with the bigger radiator thermosipon works just fine all summer on the mower
