1950 JD B is hard starting?
Dear Sirs,
I have been working on fellows JD 1950 B that is hard starting. We crank the machine and feather the choke for about 15 to 20 seconds, it pops and finally it starts. It then runs pretty good full throttle, mid-range and idle. Turn it off, wait 15 minuets, and you go thru the same thing again. One has to be very careful not to choke it too much or it will flood.
Thus far we have rebuilt the carburetor and all passages are clear, replaced and set the float level, replaced plug wires, spark plugs, points and condenser, verified timing to be at TDC manual and with timing light, checked compression to be at 110 psi.
We have separated the air cleaner pipe from the carburetor to verify if the air cleaner is plugged. No difference in this condition.
When we started working on the tractor, it was hard starting and after all that, it is still hard starting.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else could be wrong or what is being overlooked?
