1950 John Deere d backfiring issues

Recently purchased a john deere d, it had been sitting in a shop for years out of the weather, we've got it running but not %100, sometimes it runs decent at an idle and then you try rev it up and it backfires and sputters and when you rev it down it wont run good for awhile.

Rebuilt the carb thinking that was it but it's still doing it, the left spark plug is wet and the right side is always dry even after swapping plugs. Anyone have an idea on what the issue could be?

Check the plug wire as well I’ve gone as far as putting a temporary wire on to check each side since they tuck them in the tube so nice. Then if that doesn’t work look at the rotor cap and contacts inside. Same as if it had a mag they can turn green inside
