1951 Case SC - Belching Water

Bob Case SC

After running my SC for awhile and I shut it off, in a few moments it will “belch” water – I can"t tell exactly where it is coming from, although it seems like from the front of the engine.

It has a new radiator, the pump is pumping a good flow, have tried it with and without a thermostat, have temporarily blocked the overflow tube so it is not coming out the over flow.

Some friends and I cannot figure it out.............................

Why would you "block the overflow" when water, especially mixed with antifreezis heated it expands in volume. This added volume has to go some where. Let it seak its own level and keep an eye on the Temp. gauge. UNPLUG THE OVERFLOW TUBE! It was put there for a reason. Know mater how good your water pump seams, if this expansion can't be vented by the overflow it has to go somewhere. The water pump is the weak link.

Seal around the pump shaft leaking slightly? Common problem on auto water pumps. Does your SC that a grease cup that allows you to screw it down and add pressure to the seal? I think the older models did, not sure about newer ones, Mel, Loren??
