1951 John Deere A

JCKS

This tractor sits outside most all of the time and has water and or antifreeze in the oil. I'll be doing an oil sample to check but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea how prone the late A's were to head gasket or pushrod sleeves leaking coolant into the oil. There's none getting into the cylinders though. Any thoughts let me hear them please. I do cover both the intake and exhaust when outside.

Not in the cylinders. That sounds like GOOD news.
Those late A's seem to have alot of problems with cracked heads and blocks leaking into the cyl. area and also the bottom of the blocks crack leaking to the outside.
You may just have regular rain water getting in somewhere ? like the top crankcase cover ?

My guess is a bad crankcase top cover gasket.

Check the rear end oil, too. If it sits out a lot, the rain water will run down the shift stick and collect in the transmission/rear end which is a common sump.
