Replaced cylinder, piston and rings to stop it from leaking off but now it goes up very slow and jerky if it goes up at all. Suggestions?

When the N lift is jerky coming up it means that one or more of the four pump cylinders is not pumping. It can be caused by broken springs in the pump chambers or a broken Scotch yoke in the pump that the pistons are attached to. Either one means the pump will need to be removed from the tractor to fix.

Ford changed the 1939 spec of 80/90w oil to UTF years ago. Any UTF that meets the Ford spec M2C134D will work fine in your N tractor. Just read the label on the container.

I use the UTF from TSC year around here in VA.

You will find the UTF to work a lot better below 32* F than 80/90 w oil.

More to the hydraulic system than just the piston & cylinder as Bruce (VA) says. Did you use a new cylinder and the later NAA-530 Piston with a rubber O-RING?
