1953 Ford Jubilee - Locked Up

Yesterday I was using my Ford Jubilee normally. Turned it off, loaded some bales on trailer. Tried to start it and...

When I hit the starter switch (thumb), it just clicked. Found out the engine won't turn over, so the starter won't move, resulting in the click.
Tried to roll start, the wheels locked and the engine did not turn over. Just skidded along the ground.
Tried to pull start with another tractor. Same result.
Any ideas? Could the starter be hanging up on the engine, so it won't turn and the engine won't turn over?
More severe things?

Thank you in advance.

Try putting the tractor in high gear and rocking it back and forth by hand using the rear tire. If the starter is locked up that may free it up. Next thing would be to remove the starter, then see if you can turn the engine using the above method.

Yes, the starter is jammed. Sometimes just by loosening the starter mounting bolts and jiggle the starter, it may unjam.

Locked starter causing tires to skid when towed? I have to see it to believe it. I've dealt with several locked starters over the years and never once found one that skidded tires when towed. Come to think of it, this is the first time I've even heard of it. Before you start dismantling, put tractor in 3rd or 4th gear and see if tires still skid when towed.

If he is putting the tractor in low gear the mechanical advantage or torque on the input shaft to turn the engine is fairly low so I can see how it may not dislodge the drive. You never know what may have happened to the drive and how tightly it may be jammed. In the case of a Farmall they can stick fairly tight. We will see what he comes back with.

I tried the pull start in both 2nd and 3rd gears. Gonna have my tractor repair guy take a look Monday. Let you all know after that.

Did you try pulling the starter off to see if that was the problem, fairly easy to do? Or are you the all thumbs type when it comes to mechanics and it’s best you leave it to someone else?Maybe money is no object or your tractor repair guy is a low dollar good guy IDK?

I did not try yet. The issue right now is that I dont have time as I am trying to lay some.hay down. He was available and is really good at a very fair cost.

Ok, tractor repairman came this morning and reported that the starter bendix was locked up. He will order and install a new bendix and i should be back in business. Thanks everyone for your help!
After my starter Bendix was replaced 2x on my Jubilee, I ordered a 12v starter from YT. No more problems.
Someone converted my Jubilee to 12v before I bought it and uas using the old 6v starter.
