1953 R Pup Engine

Does anyone know how many teeth are on the ring gear on the flywheel of the pup engine and how many are on the starter?? i counted 75 on the flywheel and 16 on the starter

Dan, I have a parts engine and I'll grab the flywheel today and check.

I MAY be able to get the drive tooth count from an electrical parts book I have. I'll take a look today.

Dan, I just looked at the "R" partsbook on jdparts.com and the starter drive number is 1912835 (Delco).

Googling that part number brought up these sites that list stater drives for the "R" and agree on the Delco part #.

They list the tooth count as 10. I would say the first site has the more accurate picture of the drive.

SPECIFICATION:
ROTATION: CCW
NUMBER OF TEETH: 10
OVERALL LENGTH: 95mm/3.77"
PINION OD: 39mm/1.55"
NUMBER OF SPLINES: 6
OEM XREF: 1912835 - DELCO

I think we've solved your problem!
