Reminds me of a story. I got nothing else to do with it this cold outside so I’m going to tell it. Forgive the length. It all started when my sister married a guy who I will refer to as idiot. His philosophy where automobiles are concerned was not to get from point A to point B in a safe and timely manner but to see how fast he could tear one up.
Normally by whatever means necessary.

Keeping the story a little shorter my Dad and I took two 54 Chevrolets and made my Mom a good one which she drove till she got a 64 Impala (two door hardtop) at which time the old 54 found a home out by the barn.
Summer of 71 my Dad and idiot make a deal for idiot to buy the car, unbeknownst to me, however the old car needed an overhaul to make it roadworthy again which Dad agreed to do.
We tear into it and I’m as always ever vigilant on parts washing detail when I finally found out why we’re going through this engine. Keep in mind that idiot is no where to be found to get his hands dirty on this project.
I’m due to get my drivers license in spring of 72 and I’m already counting days even though my birthday is still months away.
We get to where we putting things back together and I bring up the fact that the 54 would make me a nice stater car and also brought up the likely possibly of what idiot was going to do it. Dad just shrugged and said they had already made the deal.🤷‍♂️

Idiot takes the car after we get it running and I think it’s two months time we’re putting a transmission in it for him, still can’t get his hands dirty, and not long after it went to the boneyard with a bad engine. Heard he burned it up at our local circle track and also heard he ran it out of oil, or both possibly. Desperately wanted to tell Dad I told you so, but I wanted to live to see another birthday.
Always kinda had a soft spot for 54 Chevys after that, but more for the 64 Impala. Beautiful ride 🙂

Three brothers of my mother were a few years apart in age. Their first cars were 50-51 chevies. They all traded upto 54 models. One black w white top, one another was light green with darker green strip, and the third was just like the one above.

After we put the two together it was brown windshield back with a yellow front end. Both factory colors for that year.
Always knew which one belonged to Mom
