I am going to look at a 54 NAA that is stuck between gears. The person who owns it drug it out of a barn where it has been for two years. He probably toasted the tranny, but it was on grass/dirt. However the tires are loaded. (and in good shape, as are the rims) The tractor is complete, good straight fenders, hood, bumper, dash, good rewired lights, etc. It is faded but otherwise a very straight Ford, with NO rust. I can get it for $1400. I think that is a good deal. I can probably unstick the tranny per Mr. Smith"s instruction. Opinions please. Thanks!!

Yea. I don't think he will let me take the cover off the tranny and try to unstick it. Still, it is worth almost that much money in parts. I don't believe it has a dent anywhere. We'll see in the morning when I go look at it.

He's saying take it As is. I'd be giving him an as is price and it wouldn't be $1400. Yea, you might get lucky or it could turn into a money pit.
BTW, I don't work on someone elses tractor without closing the deal first, in writing. I been screwed on deals before and as soon as the owner hears the engine start the price jumps.

Is it possible the shifter boot let water get in the tranny. I would pull the drain plug and see if water comes out.

Hi J, A lot of times it was the "tracking" worn
in the small top cover. Way back it was not hard
and inexpensive to replace. Now I don't know.
