1956 model 60 clutch

hassel

New User
I recently purchased this supposed 1 owner tractor in lima oh. found some original tools in tool box including steering wheel starting attachment.it runs and seems strong but has a noise in the clutch under load I cannot get the snap when engaging clutch but can on removal,it has a headlesspin assist but I can not get this adjusted any suggestions,as I want to use this tractor during hay season.

Need more info....!!

What are you talking about..(Headlesspin)..??

How much pressure does it take to engage and dis-engage the clutch..??
It almost sounds like your clutch is not set tight enough.
What kind of sound is coming from the clutch..??
A "Whine" at 3/4 throttle speed under no load is common..
Any Hammering is NOT a good sign...may be the clutch-driver hammering on the splines of the crankshaft and must be corrected Immediately..
The clutch does NOT need to be adjusted so tight that it is hard to engage or dis-engage, but it does need to be "set right"..
The 3 clutch bolts should be first adjusted up equally tight with the clutch ENGAGED...then, release the clutch and adjust them all the same amount, until the desired "snap" is obtained..
Let us know more and we will try to help...that 60 can be a real pleasure to bale with..!!

Ron..
