1958 801 Fluid levels

How do I visually see the proper level for my transmission and differential fluids on my 1958 801? I noticed the inspection hole for the tranny but don't want to overfill

Both have check plugs on them but where I cannot say with out digging threw my manuals and looking it up and I'm not sure which 2 foot pile of manuals it is in
