1958 861 Bendix broken

Suddenly when starting, the starter locked up. I pulled the starter and 1/2 of the Bendix gear is missing. I can't fish out any of the missing broken gear pieces. My question is, is there enough space below the flywheel for the pieces to lay down there and not interfere with the clutch action or the flywheel ring gear?

Yours is not an unusual situation. It is very common when splitting a tractor to find drive parts in the bell housing. But just a few days ago someone posted about repairing a bell housing that got cracked from loose parts.

I had an entire starter nose cone laying behind the flywheel in an Oliver for a few years one time.
