1959 700B sheet metal

Now that I've got my 700B diesel running we started fitting the sheet metal on. It was all there but not on the tractor when I got it and was pretty bent up. After putting the nose cone and center piece on we were talking about the grill screens which did not come with it.

Here's where it gets really interesting. This tractor is 12 units newer than the other 700B that I have so we were looking at the other one as well. That one has 20" tall grill screens (more or less) but the one I'm working on has 18" screens! How could this be? Both are 700Bs made on consecutive days. I've thought that the sheet metal that came with it may have been wrong but you can see the remains of the "700" decal on one side. And the lines look good. Also if they were 20" screens the neck on the radiator would need to be even longer than the high neck it has now.

Who has some ideas? And any idea where I might find some 18" screens? Thanks.

On looking at what is listed in the parts
manual, there were two different grilles
made but for specific models. Doesn't say
height of grilles but notes height of front
ends in owners manual. My own 800B has 20
inch grilles. Hope this helps.

Probably the difference between a Standard and a Row Crop Model tractor. I believe I have a set of Standard screens and will check tonight. Email should be open
if you want to send an email. Thanks - Bob

I considered that since the parts manual shows two different radiator brackets, center pieces and side members as well as different screens but I don't know what they height of each of them would be. What has me confused is that I have the build cards for both tractors and they are identical. Even the code is the same so you would think that they tractors would be identical. We pulled them side by side in the shop today and did some measuring. What we found was that to compensate for the 2" shorter screens and side members the fuel tank front and back supports are two inches shorter. This is not called out in the parts manual. This drops the fuel tank down and keep the line of the hood level with the shorter side members and center piece. Is it possible that it has the side members, center piece and screens from a 300B? Are they shorter?
