Can someone help me? i changed out the head gasket last year and everything seemed to be fine. Today my tractor started smoking and spitting oil, i looked under the hood and saw one of the injectors had popped out, one bolt was still with the injector, i dont see the other bolt. i torqued those as specified, how the heck did it work its way loose and how do i re-install it, would there be any major damage from this?

Hello Joe and sherry, welcome to YT! I don’t know exactly what the seals for the injectors look like but here is what I will say. I am picturing the gasket as a copper washer. The gasket may have not been seated correctly. There may have been something like carbon under the gasket that crushed over time, then the injector was no longer tight. You may have missed torquing that injector. You may not have torqued it tight enough, what spec did you use? Those are some thoughts.

Can’t say , don’t know about the Fordson major injection bolts but as they heat up they expand as the injection get pressure from compression ,could loosen out would recommend rechecking everything ,had to many of these on old engines and recheck everything Warm . Or blue lock tite is a thought also "
another check would run a four fluted clean out tap in all the treads andvacuum the crud out.
check make sure the bolts weren’t to long and bottom out in the head ,therefore not actually tightening anything. Run a thread die down the bolts to clean them rust and dirt. .

First of all, there shouldn't be any damage from the injector coming loose. Used Red is correct, they use a copper washer, Ford dealer should have them, and the bottom of the chamber needs to be clean before installing them. I haven't had the injectors out of a Major in 40 years so don't remember the bolt configuration, but some blue loc tite should correct the problem.
