1960''s John Deere implement lineup.

I am a 21 year kid that has gotten sick with that horrible disease that we all have. I just bought my first tractor earlier this summer. My father and I have always liked the old two cylinder tractors but I just fell in love with a 1962 3010. I am looking for any information on the implements that john deere made in the 60's. I would like to fined this mainly for talking points at tractor shows and parades. I currently have a F145A semi mount three bottom plow. My dad has a KBA (I Believe) light disk harrow. I would like to find a heavy disk, row crop planter, seed drill, sprayer, fertilizing equipment, and hay equipment.

I would appreciate any information on any other implements john Deere produced because it is fun to research these machine and their purposes.

I've looked through alot of the posts on this website and haven't had much luck.

Weeellll, not everyone has a nnalert, (at least not me). I do however, have a '62 3010D. I believe you are asking what implements would be commonly seen with a 3010 in the
1960's. Anyway, I think you are good with the disk and the plow. Planter I believe would be a 494. Baler would be a 14T. 3010's have pulled around 1209 & 1207 mowers for
millions of acres but I am not sure the 1209 and 1207 came out until the 70's? Drill/seeder would be FB-B and FB-A I think. Cant comment on a JD sprayer or fertilizer
equipment. Other popular pieces of the day might be a JD 227 mounter corn picker and JD 640 hay rake. You picked a good place to pose your question.

Correct JD pull type disk harrow would be models RWA,AW,BW. I'll add 224 sq baler & for Mo-Co models 480/483/485. Production on 1207/1209 started in '73

The disease I previously mentioned was not nnalert but was the Green collecting Bug.

On the disks was the RWA just a older version of the WA or the BW from looking at pictures of them I can't find much of a difference between them?

On the Haybines I'm assuming the difference between the 480,483 and the 485 are the size of the cutter bar or is that have something to do with the age of the machine?

I Believe my great uncle has a 494 planter with so I might have to see if I can get my hands on that.

The neighbor down the road has a 24T baler so was this a newer version of the 14T. I've heard that the 24T was an indistructable baler, was this also correct for the 14T?

My great uncle also has a 227 corn picker that used to be mounted on one of my dads 70. I've always wanted to go over there and get it but my dad never seemed to keen on that idea.

One of my good tractor buddies (he's a red guy so how good can he be) has a 42 pull type combine that he uses for harvesting his 1 acre of grain. he has a platform head and a corn head for it. I know that that was made in the early 60's. His is a 61 to be exact.

Wish you could spend a day at my place. I have enough 1960's Deere equipment to farm lots of acres. Lots of 3020's,4020's,2510's and more. Have several plows,KBA disc,925 roller harrow,LF fertlizer spreader,494A planter,AT40 cultivator,37,38,10 mowers,22 &32 conditiones,3 swath fluffer,640 rake,14t,214t & 2 24T's(one with 5 flail attachment),95 combine,105 combine,237 picker & 50 sheller,71 sheller,2 44 spreaders lots of forage harvesters and chuckwagons and much more. Great to see others interested in implements. Tom

On subject of JD Mo-Co's all the 48X were all 9' cut with 480 being JD's 1st attempt at building a Mo-Co. I can still remember demonstrating a 480 & following around the field watching it cut & parts flying off. 483 & 485 were built similar but had different style crimping rollers(see photo)

To state 24T were indestructible isn't exactly correct. I remember when I was employed by JD dealer selling a bridge with a wear pad on each end that was held to plungerhead with a single bolt that when that single bolt broke the bridge with pads got lost sometimes in hay field. 24T plungerhead has 2 of these bridges!!

An excellent hobby to get into. A number of posters here such as Tom are excellent sources of information. There are books that show equipment with one going up to
1959 and the other covering the New Generation Era. At least in my part of the US the F145H semi-mounted plow was the most commonly used with the 3010 and 4010
tractors. FB drills and 494A planters. Not the best example of JD forage harvesters but there is a 34 on Buffalo, NY Craigslist currently although it came out during the
time of the 3020 and 4020 tractors. The 227 picker would be contemporary to the 3010 with the 237 picker being an excellent get.

We had a 24T back in the day. It self destructed one day when the drive chain broke and the plunger imbedded the needles into the bale.

a real good book is John Deere Tractors and Equipment. Its 2 books actually, one from beginning to 1960, and 1960 to 1990, the second volume would have all the info you need. I believe SV has posted pics of them on here so maybe he will come along.

I am going to have to find a copy of this book. Well actually I should say books because I do enjoy learning about John Deere's history (Its kind of weird that I work for a Komatsu dealer and not a green one.
