I need some quick help. in the shop now trying to figure out hydro prob. have the lift cover of and removed check valve plug and cant figure out how to get cgeck valve out. I see that there is a special tool to get the seat out, but my check valve seems to be stuck. I would imagine it is supposed to just pull out... any help would be greatly appreciated!

Chris:

The check valve is internally threaded (1/4x20, I believe) and pressed in. You can fashion a puller from a bolt, nut and washers.

Be careful. It is easy to break the seat during either removal or installation. A new one will cost over $120.

Hey, thanks dean, I may have failed to state that I wanted to remove the actual check valve and not check valve seat. I actually had a stuck check valve... It was stuck. I finally got it to twist and come out. I am working on a problem of no lift on 3 pt until i climb my big butt on the implement and put back pressure on it, then the lift works fine... I have rebuilt the pump, it was fine. I saw this stuck valve and i just have a very loose o ring on the lift cylinder with no second leather bushing.. I am hoping a combination of these are the problem. I may pose the question again to see if anyone else has had the same problem... Thanks for your help

The check valve comprises a small spherical steel ball and the previously mentioned seat. It is beneath the hex headed plug at the front of the lift cover.

Are you speaking of the safety valve, which is beneath the accessory plate at the front of the lift cover, and is removeable with a 11/16" socket?

The relief valve is beneath the plate at on the bottom of the sump near the right front corner that is held in place with 5 bolts. Either a defective relief valve or safety valve could cause your lift to not lift. A defective check valve would not cause the lift to not lift but would allow the lift to rapidly lower once the engine is shut off.

The symptoms that you describe can be caused by a damaged piston. It is possible for the dog leg to break through the piston in a fashion that allows oil to leak through when there is little or no pressure on the dog leg but seals most of the leakage when there is pressure between the dog leg and piston socket. This damage will be obvious when you remove the piston to replace the O-ring and back-up washer.

well, this relief valve may be my problem. I dont have anything that I recall at the bottom of my sump.. I may need to go back and re-read your post, but i removed the front right inspection plate (underneath the tractor) looking for some sort if pickup screen or something clogged. I just have the supply and pressure lined coming from the pump. I will go back and look in my manual for this relief valve. The valve which I am referring was stuck was the valve under the plug on the front of the lift cover. I removed the plug and couldnt get the valve out. I have to fight to get it out, once it came out, there was a spring and bearing, so the only thing left is the seat, which requires the special tool, or, like you said 10/32 bolt to remove. A video I have also states that the check valve can be removed with a 3/8 fine thread... I am working from memory, so I may go back to my shop (miles away) and make some notes or take some photos to try and give you guys some better info with which to help me. Thank you...
