1963 Case W3 Model 42

Hi everyone. I registered on here earlier this year yet I was inactive so I had to re-register. I just moved to my Mother-in-laws property where I was using the W3 I had bought. I broke the bucket links yet heated and welded them back together. It seems they are an inch too short so have to be careful not to curl the bucket too far. I bought a service manual off JC M. (who is a member here) in this past year. I currently have no drive in my towue converter tranny so am just starting the testing sequence outlined in the manual. So I'll start to post my findings in the Case forum. Glad to be back!

I just got my W3 to Oklahoma - I bought it in Massachusetts. I'm hoping it is a diamond in the rough LOL. It just barley ran enough to help load . I haven't had a chance to even look at it yet. It has an eagle hitch but there is a plate from a different tractor over the PTO. Someone removed the pto to put on a weight. Maybe someone would know if the PTO shaft and gear box would fit from a 310. Good luck with yours.
Yes I bought it for a lot less than scrap price. That justifies the long trip home for it. Note the grill -according to a case manual it is the correct one.

My 310 and 200 with factory loaders both have the radiator grill protectors from the factory and are like yours. Loaders look the same also, but yours has self leveling bucket.

My W3 looks very similar to yours. I have no grill, no cab, yet mine has the loader and backhoe. I also have a diesel 188. We just got more snow today so i can only take pucs of a snow covered machine lol. I have the dash and drivers seat covered. The snow is not going to keep me fixing it lol. Mine has cover over where PTO would be. If yours has PTO set up and 3 point hitch you will have 2 hydraulic filters. One behind grill and one behind 4 bolt cover on right side. Cover will have round plug for inserting a 1/2" drive ratchet. You can still buy replacement filters! You said yours had hardly any power to load. Do you mean engine power or tranny was slipping?

Actually I wasn't there when it was loaded. I made a deal to very reasonably. But I think it was a fuel problem. I am anxious to spend some time on it,but have other things happening in my life.

Mine looks very similar to yours, first thing that stands out to me is that the grill is round holes instead of expanded metal like yours. Mine appears to be factory. I just bought mine so I am starting to figure it out. I noticed that the foot throttle setup is removed. Does anyone use the foot throttle? The hand throttle linkage is broken so I have to fix that before I can figure out much more.
