I have been having trouble with this tractor running. I have timed it over and over. It never seems to be right. After replacing just about everything normal and rebuilding the carb, I still had problems. I finally decided to pull the Distributor and take a look at the advance since it was the only thing I hadn't changed or looked at. I found it to have 2 differently sized springs in it and one was broken. It has some play in the shaft, so it really needs the bushing replaced too. It has the Prestolite IBT-4101 in it. I can find no parts for this. I saw one site that would rebuild Distributors for $250. After looking at it closer, it didn't list the Prestolite. I kept searching and found a complete aftermarket distributor that is supposed to be a replacement for the IBT-4101. After contacting the manufacturer with some questions, it wasn't designed specifically for my application. They can not guarantee that it will work. Has anyone tried the Pertronix D41-05A in a John Deere 1010? Does anyone have any other ideas? Somewhere I could get the bushing and replacement springs to rebuild my own maybe?
Thanks,
Wayne
