1965 Ford 3000 hydraulic section question

In the process of replacing the hydraulic oil pickup tube. Quite a challenge to get it out plus will be fun putting it back. My tractor came from overseas and has the hand brake. I have removed that and will not put back. Underneath the special gears for the hand brake is a sheet metal part shown in the photo. I am thinking this is only to help lubricate the hand break gears and I would prefer to not put back due to added difficulty. I cannot locate this in the parts diagram. Does anyone know if this is needed without the hand brake?

Don't remember just what I found back there
when I removed the hand brake from a Brit
4000 that I had but subsequent 4000s I've
been into confirmed that it was okay that I
did not replace that extra tin.
When I saw how it worked and what a nice
feature that brake was I was sad to eliminate
it but it was cost prohibitive to repair.
