I have a 1967 case 580ck 188 diesel. I recently lost power and noticed when I pulled the valve cover that I had one bent pushrod and one broken pushrod on the same cylinder. Valves are not sticky either. Could they have been too loose??

What do u mean by lost power ? Was it running and then what ?

Yes, it was running good the I heard a pop and it started to run on three cylinders apparently. Still ran with a miss and was letting fuel into the crank case. I think the lash may have been loose and I lost one then the other. I can push the valves down and everything on top looks good. I am going to install two new rods and set the lash hopefully it runs smooth. Thoughts?

That is not real uncommon with them if they get loose. Just make sure the valves are actually loose and install new ones.

How can you get a broken push rod from a loose rocker setting? I would think you had valves sticking hard to break a push rod?
