A friend just gave me his 1969 C 850. It was an old fire truck
that he put a flat bed on. 13,000 original miles. I think it is a
534 gas engine.
Ran well for him until he noticed a gas leak at the carb. He
had the carb rebuilt. Drove it home and it burst into flame on
top of the engine. Took 5 extinguishers to put it out. Mechanic
said to bring the carb in and if it was something they did wrong
they would rebuild it again.
That was 3 years ago. I just took the carb off. Holley.
Any idea what the original carb would have been? This carb is
setup like nothing i have seen before. The riser it was set on
had its own butterfly’s and a linkage set up to a thermostatic
control. And another linkage running back to a contraption on
the manifold. Ill post a picture.
