I'm swapping out my PS pump with the newer pump with integrated tank but my old pump has 3 lines and the newer one has only 2, has anyone done this can they shed some light on it ?

On the old setup one line supplies fluid from the tank to the pump, you wont need that one
Connect the pressure outlet from the back of the old pump to the pressure outlet on the front side of the new pump, youll need the proper fitting and a compression union to make the line work
The return line that goes up to the old tank will need to be reworked to connect to the return fitting on a back of the new pump

On the old style pump with the separate reservoir up above the pump, the line that goes from the pump to the steering column is the pressure line, and the line that goes from the steering column to the reservoir is the return. On the newer style pump with the integrated reservoir, the pressure line connects to the port on the pump that is towards the front of the tractor, where the pump body itself is exposed, and the return line connects to the fitting toward the rear of the tractor on the center of the end of the reservoir.

Thanks for clearing that up, now I have another problem, the pump hits the bracket of my alternator ? Anyone have a suggestion ?

It shouldnt

Thanks for this pic, I mis-spoke, I have the original generator, which is a lot bigger, so the rear of the bracket hits, so I need to put an alternator like you did, where did you get the kit, or did you just use a one wire GM deal and buy brackets ?

My 4000 is a 1973 and it came from the factory with the generator and the later style pump with the integrated reservoir. They are very close to each other but nothing touches.

I cut a piece of the ear off, I got about 1/4" clearance it barely squeezed in, but its in !

OK, fired it up and oil is coming out the top of steering tube, right where steering wheel hits it, mind you I had the steering box/column rebuilt, now what ?!?!?
