Would the Ford blue for a 1974 5000 be the Ford imperial blue? I'm not necessarily trying to get an exact match for show quality and I know there were different Ford shades of blue but I was just wondering if imperial blue would be pretty close. Also are the fenders and rims white or are they Ford Gray on the 1974 5000? I am thinking they are white. Rust-Oleum makes a Ford blue but I think it's way off.

Not sure about Imperial Blue but Ford used the same blue from 63-99
Ford never used white, the wheels and fenders are Ford gray which looks like a off white
The rear wheel centers on your 74 model were blue
Standard rear rims were Ford gray, power adjust rims were aluminum silver
If it s just a repaint I like the gray centers better than blue

Sorry I meant Empire blue. I agree
with you on the light gray centers on
the wheels I don't like the blue
center's either. On another note I
was telling my friend I ordered a new
wiring harness for my tractor and he
mentioned he needed one for his so I
gave him the information that you
gave me and he ordered a wiring
harness for his tractor.

Yes, Ford called the color Empire Blue.
I don't know what the color of the light gray was called. The paint they sell at CNH is good quality and the correct whitish-gray color.
I don't buy their reducer or hardener.
Pricey.
I just buy cheap hardener from Fleet Farm and I always use lacquer thinner for the reducer.
I don't know how much you know about painting but you will be unhappy with the finish if you don't use a hardener.

Ford Empire Blue is for Fordson models, Ford Blue (or Ford Tractor Blue) is for the 1000-series.

I highly recommend avoiding the Rustoleum. It's a sacrificial paint that fades and dulls. Best is the expensive stuff like the CNH or PPG paint. Economy paints I've had good luck with VanSickle Tractor enamel.
