1990 Case 450C

I recently developed a leak of fluid from under the dozer. After investigating it further, I found that the transmission fluid level was not registering on the dipstick. I added 2 gallons of fluid in an attempt to find the leak. Today I found the leak. Fluid leaks out of the tube which comes from the bottom of the hydraulic reservoir and curves down under the flooring toward the front of the dozer. I think I can replace the line but can not understand why the transmission would be dry, when the leak shows that it is coming from the hydraulic tube which comes from the hydraulic reservoir... anyone have knowledge they can help me understand?

Did the oil in the hydraulic reservoir go low,as I remember the plumbing for the transmission and torque are completely independent of the hydraulics,there are approximately 8-10 lines for the torque,transmission,filter and cooler with most of them been low down,the oil could be one of those lines spraying out and hitting the hydraulic tube making it look like it's leaking.

OMG...Thnk you! Went out this morning after reading your post and spent some more time with a friend...like 2 minutes...and found the leak. It WAS NOT what I first thought it was and it was a braided line that YES went to the tranny filter on one end and to the pump on the other.
Already have it removed and headed to town tomorrow for a replacement.
