1990 Ford 545C

Picked up this 545C about a month ago runs and works well only problem I m having is after working tractor for hour or so box will not stay up??? I have checked fluid looks good , changed filter. After I let it set for a couple hours works fine I searche for in forums on this and have had no luck any help would be highly appreciated.

I'm unsure of what you mean by the box. Is this a weight box on the 3 point hitch, or the front end loader bucket?

If this is a weight box on the 3 point hitch, there is a wealth of information regarding those issues available by searching this site. Until the problem is resolved, the 3 point hitch arms can be secured in the lifted position with suitable metal straps running from the upper mount on the tractor to the pins at the ends on the lift arms.

If your problem is regards the loader bucket not staying in position, that is a separate hydraulic system with the pump and tank located in the nose of the tractor in front of the radiator.

I m talking about the box on the 3 point at the back of tractor. Works fine for the 1st hour or so and then lifting arms will not raise the box back up. If I let set or go back out the next day works fine again. I m thinking there is a problem with hydraulic pump inside. I have been looking for some information on how to diagnose and or access the pump

I recently drained the fluid and replaced with new fluid and new filter but still same issue! I just don t see any information out there on this topic for the ford 545 or similar.

The 3 point hitch on your 445C is the same as the Ford agricultural models like the 4600, 4610, 4630, and many others. Troubleshooting and repair are the same.

Reproduction service and repair manuals are available for the 345C, 445C, and 545C tractors.
