1992 John Deere 2755

I have stumbled across a 1992 JD 2755 with a mid-mount Bomford Turner Gorilla Flail arm mower attachment. The tractor was purchased new and previously owned by the government in GA. Their Service records verified the hours which were 271 (now about 277) on this unit! It is in excellent shape and runs great. The rear shield has been dented from a tree limb and a couple of minor scratches here or there but overall excellent. I thought I'd have good use of this item but due to unforeseen circumstances I am retiring the business and going a different direction. Anyone have an idea what a fair price would be to expect for it? Or where to list for sale?

Location of tractor affects price. One needs to know if tractor has cab or is open station to even get close on a price. JD 2755 were normally very good utility tractors.

It's in SC and an open cab with cage. Added a couple photos.

Thanks and appreciate the response. That right hand fender is virtually the only damage. I was able to get all of the literature/manuals from Bomford (UK) on the attachment but no guidance on value. I'm at a loss on value as well. I did replace the seat that had dry rot/torn and had to replace some hydraulic lines (from cracking/leaks) but no issues with operation. The tires/sizes are per specs from what came on these tractors (maybe photo distortion?). Based upon the custodian's statement, that he had been there for almost 23 years, it sat almost it's entire life that he had been there with an occasional use/service. So not even sure as to the value of the tractor with such low hours. Thanks again.

What is your minimum price you have to have for it?

Well, I am trying to get a fair price. I have done some research on available 2755's out there but have only been able to see a couple of sold prices (some asking prices seem ridiculous) but without the flail mower (have only seen 2 with midmount) but in pretty rough condition, high hours and asking price not sold prices. So my circumstances of why I am switching gears, is that my father passed (was a prospector for 50 yrs) and we own a gold mine (formerly copper) in GA. I am wanting to continue his legacy (especially now with gold prices) and purchase a good wash plant. So, still trying to see where I need to set the mark. Don't want to continue with the dredging aspect and would rather setup a wash plant since I have the heavy equipment that is required.

So, I have a landscape business that my sons have pretty much taken over. I had big plans for it when I bought it and also was going to use it for the roads into mine keeping limbs cut back but with the dozer and backhoe, I don't think it would get much usage and can invest that into something that will be more beneficial. I have read many articles and posts about the 2755's and see they are pretty popular. So that's interesting. I have virtually no knowledge on these tractors nor of the newer ones. But like most newer equipment I assume it probably is along the lines of my 997's that the newer ones switched to the awful DPF. Common fuel rail systems that bad compared to the old?

Thanks for everyone's feedback by the way! I am new to the site, and this is the only site I have signed up for. Any recommendations on selling? Where to list? I see a lot of the big sites have enormous fees more so than what they used to be.

Older style diesel fuel systems are a lot more tolerant to foreign materials such as water than common-rail fuel systems. Contaminants in common-rail fuel systems are a Big N0-No!!! Several yrs ago my neighbors tractor with common-rail fuel system got water in fuel which caused the need to replace inj pump & injectors to the tune of $7500 & that was before the latest sickness created price increases.

I owned a similar tractor for about 20 years, and 6000 hours with a loader. That tractor by itself would bring 25k CAN here with the fender replaced all day long. Mine was a great tractor, only sold because I downsized the farm. If equipped with Hi Lo, dual hydraulic outlets, 1000 rpm pto and rack and pinion rears, it will bring a premium.

Ben

Thanks Ben, I apologize. I am a "newbie" to the tractor world. I have attached a few more photos. If you don't mind. I do believe it has high/low, and does have dual outlets, not sure on pto and how to tell nor rack and pinion. Can you tell from photos? Not sure what to look for.

If it was a cab model, I'd be jumping on it. That being said, the 2755 was one of the best smaller-framed, utility-sized tractors Deere ever built. The problem is there are no decent comparables. Look on Tractor House and most of them are dead with high hours and ready to go to tractor heaven. I suggest you compare the prices for anything new, from any manufacturer, in that power range and spec range, and set a price somewhere in the middle. The buyers will whine and complain that it's 30 years old but you can argue that your tractor is twice the machine of a new one at 1/2 the price. Let us know how you make out.

I really do appreciate all of the feedback. I signed up for the forum because I spoke with my local JD salesman (granted he didn't have pictures) and said I wouldn't get much (not sure what his idea of much was) for it. He said "well it's over 30 yrs old, so won't get much".

This 2755 has hyd ind pto, single scv(rear hyd remote) & would need a photo of LH side of the dash to determine if it has hyd hi-lo or hyd reverser. With no loader I'll guess $15-$17K if the hours of use are correct

I think that your best price is going to be keeping it a unit, that mid mount mower is probably only usable on that model tractor. Around here I think that you would be looking at $15 to 20K. Any dealer is going to buy at wholesale because they need to have some meat on the bone. They are not going to give the best price.
