2 row Corn Planter ID Help

Hello all! I bought this corn planter
and looking to ID it. I'm thinking it's
an IH but some more research it looks
like McCormick Deering. I believe it was
horse drawn, converted but still looking
to find a manual. Here's some photos,

I hope someone knows as I have one just like it except mine has factory markers with it. Don't really need markers if planting 36 rows and the tractor tires are set for that but its still cool to have them.

Yeah, this one doesn't have original markers (obviously lol), but the person before me got creative with the wooden ones.

That looks like one of these.

That's in good shape yet & it's not every day you find one with a readable patent decal. Very nice!

And this one has fertilizer tanks as well (not pictured) Would you have a digital copy of the manual by chance?

I thought it was International as well, but I think it might be McCormick Deering? Not 100% sure, though it has an IH logo on almost every part.

I can look to see if I have one. The fertilizer units would have had a separate manual. The images I posted were taken from my dealer sales catalog for 1949.

I have my FIL's IH planter and it looks exactly like that except for the seat.

and it has swing-out markers.

I have no problem buying one but I want to make sure I have the correct model before making a purchase.

I don't have a manual for the 200 series horse drawn planters. All that is here is a parts catalog & fertilizer units manual for the 100 series planters. The seed hoppers on the 100 series shows they have fluted lids. The ones on yours are smooth & the boots are straight, so you have a 203 drill type planter.

There are a couple manuals for those on eBay. I think they're about 2x what they are worth, just my opinion though.

Is that a Check Row planter which used the row of wire with knots on it to space the corn plants? I understand the rows would be perfect from which ever way you looked at them. Is so that a whole different level of planting and without the wire I wonder how it works??Cleddy

Looks like a drill design , I dont the valves for seed drop, do you located in shoe ( boot ) ?

I think IH implements were designated as McCormick Deering in that time.

There was NO IH name at that time, it was McCormic or McCormic-Deering or just Deering.

International Harvester was the company name but McCormick-Deering was one of the company's brand names, kind of like saying Buick is a brand name of General Motors. So, saying that your planter was made by IH is correct, even if it is branded as a McCormick-Deering.
